Now, I understand that if you were checking out a book by one author you might be inclined to buy another book from the same author, but how many people clicked on the first, and then decided, "Well, that's not quite what I'm looking for. I guess I'll just buy the new Harry Potter instead." Not many, but surprisingly just as many as who purchased the other book from the same author. And if only 2% of people decided to buy these other books instead, maybe it's not worth taking up the space to advertise something most people aren't going to respond to.
And besides, I already have the new Harry Potter. Amazon should know this.
